The experimentation with bio-materials, through bacterial cultures and substances of vegetal and protein origin, presented within Exuvia, has the aim of producing fabrics as similar as possible to epidermal ones, which when worn can take on the role of a second skin.
The project is conceived as an experiment in itself, therefore visitors have the opportunity to follow the progression of the work conducted by Erica Curci in its different stages of evolution. The works presented belong to an artistic production which has as its object of investigation the most external shell of the human being, the skin. The protective function of this organ is underlined and investigated, in common with clothing items, removing from the latter the delineation of use as a consumer objects intended for the fashion market.
